Egg, turned from Vegetal nut, screwed in 4 parts, and
in good working order. This sewing tool was used as a wax (paraffin)
holder, to make sticky and protect flax thread on leather or rought
textiles... Vegetal material is the inside nut of the corrozo palm
tree
Phytelephas macrocarpa, here, it is well worked, finely turned, and largely sized....

Nerylla Taunton's book: antique needlecase tools, on p.164.
