Voici un superbe œuf à couture, qui contenait la paraffine pour poisser les fils, les rendre plus solides, sans s'effilocher. Il est sculpté et tourné en quatre pièces vissées l'une dans l'autre, dans une noix végétale: Phytelephas macrocarpa, moelle du palmier corozo. c'est un objet assez rare, décrit dans le livre des objets de couture Anglais de Nerylla Taunton, p.164.

This is a superb Egg, turned from Vegetal nut, screwed in 4 parts, and in good working order. This sewing tool was used as a wax (paraffin) holder, to make sticky and protect flax thread on leather or rought textiles... Vegetal material is the inside nut of the corrozo palm tree Phytelephas macrocarpa, here, it is well worked, finely turned, and largely sized.... a rare item, that you can find similar described and pictured on the Nerylla Taunton's book: antique needlecase tools, on p.164.
